Birth is not only about making a beautiful baby. It is about making mothers. Strong, competent, capable mothers. This mama was brave and so beautiful. I think that birth can really prepare you for motherhood. You can plan, but you never know what it will be like for you or what will happen until you get there. This beautiful home birth moved to the hospital after no progression while pushing for two hours and although this mama, midwife and doctor did everything in her/ their power to have a natural birth at the hospital, she ended up making a choice for the safety of her and her little girl to end the birth with a cesarean section. The raw strength brings back the tears for me. It was an honor to have been a part of this birth day. PS: Check out the true knot in the umbilical cord!
